One of the greatest players to step onto an NBA court has officially requested to be traded from the Nets as Kyrie Irving is asking out of Brooklyn.
This request from Irving’s camp was sent this morning, and Irving would like to be traded by Thursday’s NBA Trade Deadline.
Breaking: Brooklyn Nets All-Star Kyrie Irving has requested a trade, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The franchise has been informed that Irving prefers to move on ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline – or will leave in free agency in July.

The leading cause of this request from Irving is most likely due to extension talks failing, as Irving is set to become a free agent in the offseason. After several years of chaos since acquiring Irving and Kevin Durant, it seemed as if the Nets organization was finally starting to turn the page this season, as the team has been more stable and consistent. However, it seems we were all fooled, and you never know what’s happening behind closed doors.

Irving is having another incredible season as he was just named an NBA All-Star for the eighth time, and it will be the sixth time that Irving is a starter in the game. Irving is averaging 27 points per game, five rebounds per game, five assists per game, and one steal per game.
The 30-year-old future Hall of Famer is reportedly interested in reuniting with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James who is currently with the Los Angeles Lakers. Some other teams to monitor in the Irving sweepstakes include the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns, to name a few.

With many teams being competitive this season, perhaps a team that usually doesn’t try to go after big-time guys like Irving can be a contender for his services. With that said, whatever happens, can change the direction of the league going forward, as Kyrie Irving is one of the best and most impactful players ever to play the game.
