Lea Michele turned to her personal Instagram yesterday, Wednesday (March 22) to give a vulnerable update regarding her 2-year-old son Leo’s admission to the hospital. Michele did not disclose what precisely brought her kid and her husband Zandy Reich to the hospital.
“I’m so sorry but unfortunately I will be out of @FunnyGirlBwy today. We are at the hospital with our son dealing with a scary health issue that I need to be here for,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, revealing she was going to be calling out of her starring role in Broadway’s Funny Girl for the evening.
“I’m so sorry. Please send us some love and strength.” She also shared a photo of her hand wrapped over the 2-year-old’s from his hospital bed.
Funny Girl announced earlier this month that it would close in the fall. The show will go on its inaugural North American tour following its final performance on September 3.
The Michele-led revival of the 1964 musical starring Barbra Streisand, which originally starred Beanie Feldstein in the character of Fanny Brice, had been shattering box office records prior to the news of its impending last curtain. In the week leading up to Christmas, the show raked in more over $2 million across eight shows, setting a new high water mark for the August Wilson Theatre.
