“It’s About Damn Time” that Lizzo calls out Aries Spears, the comedian who body shamed her during an interview.
In a clip that has amasses more than 3.5 million views, Spears told an interviewer that he, “can’t get over that [Lizzo] looks like a s*** emoji.”
“She’s got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off,” he continued. He then added that although he’s not the most in shape person “in the world” he can still get women because he’s “funny,” has “swagger” and is “decent looking.”

“But a woman that’s built like a plate of mashed potatoes, is in trouble.” Seemingly insinuating that because Lizzo looks the way she does, she can’t get men.
Since that video was released, Lizzo’s fans have come out in full force in her defense.
@tenilleclarke1 called out Spears calling the comedian a “fragile child” and says his “ugly rant is a failed disguise for the hurt he feels for the last of support in his career as a fat Black entertainer.”
Aries Spears is a fragile child who is throwing a tantrum because Lizzo is living in her authentic truth and his ugly rant is a failed disguise for the hurt he feels for the lack of support in his career as a fat Black entertainer. THIS is what you call projectionism. Really sad. https://t.co/xxHWa8hpuV

@ADamantxYves also responded to the video saying, “what’s really sad to me is how the interviewer specifically brought Lizzo up to praise her music and songwriting skills, but Aries jumped over all of that to talk about how fat she is.”
Although we’ve heard from Lizzo’s fans, we hadn’t heard from her– until tonight.
During her acceptance speech for “Video for Good” at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, Lizzo seemingly addressed the situation without naming Spears.
“Now to the b****** that got something to say about me in the press,” she started. “You know what I’m not gonna say nothing. They be like ‘Lizzo why don’t you clap back?’ Cause b**** I’m winning, ho! Big b****** winning ho!

The “Truth Hurts” singer crushed her performance earlier in the night owning the stage with a mashup of her hit songs “It’s About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).”
