Get ready Marvel fans — Hawkeye will be making its way onto Disney+ very soon!
On Thursday (July 29), Marvel released an official first-look photo of the series and the scheduled release date. In the photo, we see Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye face-to-face with newcomer Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. Kate appears to be in the middle of archery practice as she is holding a bow and arrow and standing near a target.
During the early stages of development in 2019, Variety reported that Steinfeld had been offered the role of Kate Bishop. At the end of 2020, her role was officially confirmed as her and Renner were spotted filming together in New York City on multiple occasions. In the Young Avengers comics, Kate briefly takes over for Hawkeye then eventually becomes his partner in crime.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Renner teased a bit of what fans can expect from Steinfeld’s character. “She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life,” he said.
Renner also talked about what it was like working with Steinfeld. As a veteran actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he wanted to mentor her as she stepped into this new world of acting. He said, “I was protecting her and giving her the CliffsNotes on how it goes with this kind of filmmaking: Green screen, superhero life, all that stuff,” he continues. “She’s a wonderful actress, a wonderful human, and I can’t wait to see all the cool stuff that she’s able to do.”
