Miley Cyrus Takes to Instagram to Educate DaBaby Following Homophobic Remarks

Miley Cyrus has taken to Instagram in an attempt to educate DaBaby following his homophobic remarks.

Last week, the rapper’s Rolling Loud appearance was accompanied by hurtful comments and misinformed declarations regarding HIV and the LGBTQ community. Performers and audiences alike quickly criticized the rapper; Elton John, Madonna, and Dua Lipa were amongst many who called the artist out for his homophobic verbiage.

Since then, DaBaby has been dropped from several festivals, including Austin City LimitsiHeartRadioGovernors Ball, Day N Vegas, and Music Midtown. He was even let go from Lollapalooza only hours before beginning his set.

In response to this, Miley Cyrus slams cancel culture and express that these patterns are not the proper steps in making progress and bringing justice.

“As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open-mindedness,” She shares on Instagram. “The internet can fuel a lot of hate & anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture…but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication, & connection. It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds,” she continues.

Education is crucial in ensuring respect and understanding, and it does not happen overnight! Miley stresses this and concludes her statement by saying There’s no more room for the division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn!”

Addressed to Dababy, she tags him in the comments and invites him to “check [his] DMs – [she] would love to talk and see how [they] can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future.”

Miley additionally included links for further educational resources regarding LGBTQ rights and public information on AIDS. Head to her Instagram post to check them out!
