Minka Kelly Announces Memoir “Tell Me Everything”

Friday Night Lights Star Minka Kelly took to Instagram to announce the release date for her upcoming memoir titled, Tell Me Everything; the book is set to be released on May 5, 2023.

“‘If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it,’ said the incomparable Toni Morrison. Franz Kafka said that “A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.” Writing it chops the writer up, exposing what’s beneath.

And though I would never compare myself with these greats of literature, I can’t help but shout with joy. This is what I did: I wrote the book I needed to read. I found a way to make sense of my life through my stories,” Kelly shared in a lengthy caption on Instagram.

“I knew I would write my story back when I was still in high school. I also knew I could only do so after my mother died if I were going to be truly honest. The beauty of writing at this time in my life is that I’ve had time to process and grieve so much. I can now tell my story fairly and without resentment —but with compassion, forgiveness, and love. The rub is I’d give anything to share this book with my mother. I know she’s aware of it in her own way. But I’d love to see her face light up at the idea that I wrote a whole book —288 pages!— about our relationship. She’d be so proud—of the good, the bad, and even the ugly.

It took many years to put pen to paper. When I finally started writing I constantly doubted myself and had so many second thoughts. My story is no more important than anyone else’s, but it’s important nonetheless. And so here we are. And this is the cover. This is a surreal moment for me and one I hope you’ll share with me.”

As of late, Kelly has been in the news for her on-again, off-again relationship with late-night host Trevor Noah. After several years of being spotted with one another, it seems like the two finally moved on from one another, as Noah was recently spotted out in NYC with music superstar Dua Lipa.

When posting about her book and posting the cover art of it, Kelly went into detail on how the memoir is going to be mainly about her up-and-down relationship with her mother, Maureen, who passed away from cancer in 2008. With Kelly emphasizing her relationship with her mother, it can remind some fans of iCarly star Jennette McCurdy’s recently released memoir; I’m Glad My Mom Died, as McCurdy went into great detail about the struggling dynamic between her and her deceased mother.

Kelly is best known for her role as “Lyla Garrity” in the NBC teen drama Friday Night Lights. In recent memory, Kelly was on four episodes of the HBO hit, Euphoria.

With Kelly releasing this book in May of 2023, this will be the perfect pre-summer book for people to purchase and read right before getting into that summer mode. Aside from the memoir, Kelly is set to star as “Cassie” in the Jeff Celentano thriller Blackwater Lane.
