MLB Reporter Kelsey Wingert Recovering After 95 MPH Line Drive

Colorado Rockies reporter Kelsey Wingert is “recovering” after being hit in the head by a line drive.

On Monday, in a game against the San Francisco Giants, Wingert was struck in the head by a baseball traveling 95 miles per hour. The ball was a foul ball hit off of Austin Slater of the Giants, in the ninth inning. Wingert was sitting in the first-base camera well when the ball struck her in the head.

Wingert was sent to the hospital where she spent five hours, along with her producer, the AT&T SportsNet manager, and his wife. Wingert underwent CT scans to check for any brain damage or internal bleeding, which came back clear. She also received internal and external stitches and was released.

The moment was captured on video during the broadcast, as shown above, though the shot of Kelsey getting hit is fortunately not shown. The concerned TV broadcaster asked “Kelsey, you okay?” after learning she had been hit. Kelsey did manage to give a thumbs-up before being escorted out of the stadium.

“I had CT scan to check for internal bleeding/fractures & it came back clear, Thank God,” Wingert tweeted following the incident. “I received internal & external stitches. I’ve been staying at my GM’s house. I can’t say enough about AT&TSN & the Rox. I’ve never experienced support like this. Thank you for the prayers”

Thankfully, Wingert is okay, and will be back to reporting soon. What did you think of this nasty incident? Let us know, by either leaving a reaction below or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
