After becoming one of the most viral sensations of 2021 so far, it’s no surprise that Olivia Rodrigo is MTV Push’s Artist of the Month!
Rodrigo sat down with MTV Push to reveal songs that influenced her upbringing, some special facts and stories behind Instagram posts from the singer/songwriter, and a deeper look into her songs “drivers license” and “deja vu.”
In a short range of quickfire questions, Rodrigo listed some of her favorite songs that shaped who she is today. The list included a song of her childhood (“Blown Away” by Carrie Underwood) and some of her go-to songs for when she’s in love (“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by The Beach Boys), going through a heartbreak (“Falling” by Harry Styles), a feel-good karaoke song (“What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction), and more!
The singer swears by the iconic One Direction hit, and we can’t help but agree.
MTV Push took a deep dive into Rodrigo’s Instagram photos, one of which included singer, Conan Gray, whom fans have been hoping and anticipating Rodrigo to collab with in the future.
She revealed that the photo had been taken at her main collaborator, Dan Nigro’s house, who has worked on songs with Gray as well. Hopefully, this means a collab will be coming sooner than we think!
In addition to the special interview, Rodrigo also performed her hit song “drivers license” and the first-ever live performance of, “deja vu!” Of course, the performances were nothing short of iconic and encapsulated Rodrigo’s sound in the best way.
If that wasn’t exciting enough, Saturday Night Live just announced that the singer will be one of the closing performers of season 46! The legendary show did a hilarious skit of her debut single on Rodrigo’s birthday, and now she’ll be taking the SNL stage herself on May 15th and we cannot wait!
