A new year means new music, and SO MANY of our favorite country artists are starting 2025 with a bang by dropping new songs today (January 10).
For starters, Ringo Starr released his new country album, Look Up. Produced and co-written by T Bone Burnett, the full-length project is Starr’s first country album in more than 50 years and his first project since 2019.
Recorded last year in Nashville and Los Angeles, Look Up features 11 songs and nine were written or co-written by Burnett. Starr sang and played drums on all the songs and co-wrote the album’s closer, “Thankful,” featuring Alison Krauss. Burnett enlisted some of Nashville’s finest and hottest talent for the record, including Billy Strings, Larkin Poe, Lucius, Molly Tuttle, and the aforementioned Krauss. Acclaimed musicians Dennis Crouch, Paul Franklin, Daniel Tashian, Joe Walsh and more also played on the album.
In conjunction with the album release, the 84-year-old shared a video for the title track, which you can watch at the bottom of the post. It features Starr singing in the sunshine interwoven with images of people from all walks of life gathering in a field and ultimately, as seen in shots from above, forming a human peace sign. Director Wyndham Garnett was inspired by the song’s prescient lyrics and Starr’s dedication to spreading peace and love.
Stephen Wilson Jr. also shared the deluxe version of his his critically-acclaimed debut double album søn of dad via Big Loud Records. The LP features two new tracks taken from his viral Live at the Print Shop performance: the moving dedication to his late father “I’m A Song” and a gripping reinterpretation of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” as well as 10 acoustic versions of fan favorites like “Cuckoo,” “Year To Be Young 1994,” “Father’s Søn,” “Grief is Only Love” and more.
The deluxe album arrives as Wilson Jr.’s debut album enters its seventh consecutive week within the top 10 of the iTunes country album chart where it hit #1 multiple times.
Other releases that we can’t stop listening to come from Nolan Taylor and Trey Lewis as they released new projects, with hot earworms from artists like Kip Moore, The War and Treaty, Warren Zeiders, Kameron Marlowe, Lily Rose, Noah Thompson, Neon Union, among others.
Music City’s newcomers certainly didn’t disappoint when it comes to sharing their latest material today, as artists like Ty Myers, Zach John King, Kat Luna, Vincent Mason, Mackenzie Carpenter, Julia Cole, Chancey Williams and more dropped some songs you need to hear.
