New Music Friday: SZA is Back with her First Full-Length Project Since “Ctrl” in 2017 and More

SZA is back with another full-length project for this week’s New Music Friday!

Today (December 9th), the Grammy Award-winner released her highly anticipated album SOS, consisting of 23 AMAZING tracks. After putting out a few songs before the album’s official release, including “Shirt” that is currently dominating social media, SZA built up excitement surrounding the full-length project that was seemingly on the way.

SOS serves as a follow-up to Ctrl, her album that took the world by storm in 2017 and featured hit songs like “Love Galore (feat. Travis Scott),” “The Weekend,” “Broken Clocks” and more.

Aside from being INCREDIBLE from top to bottom, the album also features a few special surprises! When the tracklist first came out, fans were thrilled to see that SZA collaborated with some of today’s biggest artists on some of the songs. Travis Scott is featured on “Open Arms,” Phoebe Bridgers on “Ghost in the Machine,” and Don Toliver on “Used,” and these tracks did not disappoint.

SOS is truly a must-listen, but it’s not the only album/EP featured on this week’s New Music Friday playlist! Caroline Polachek came out with Welcome To My Island, A Boogie wit da Hoodie with Me vs. Myself, MOUNT WESTMORE with SNOOP CUBE 40 $HORT, Anuel AA with LLNM2, Maude Latour with 001, Emotional Oranges with The Juice: Vol. III and more.

Lucky Daye even released a deluxe version of his album Candydrip that came out in March, adding a few hot new songs to the tracklist that we are already obsessed with.

With albums/EPs aside, there were also several new singles released that we know we’re going to have on repeat for weeks! Lana Del Rey came out with “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under under Ocean Blvd,” Dove Cameron with “Girl Like Me,” Polo G with “My All,” Paramore with “The News,” Sabrina Carpenter with “A Nonsense Christmas,” Lil Tecca with “Blessing,” Daniel Seavey with “Runaway,” Rebecca Black with “Look At You,” Moneybagg Yo with “Quickie” and more.

In addition to these soon-to-be hit singles, gnash, the artist behind the 2016 smash hit “i hate you, i love you (feat. Olivia O’Brien),” put out two powerful new songs titled “Guiding Light” and “I Got A Lot To Lose,” both released under the project three.

The only thing better than new solo singles is when our favorite artists team up to make musical magic! Fortunately for us, this week’s New Music Friday playlist was filled with collaborations, including Martin Garrix and JVKE with “Hero,” Oxlade and Camila Cabello with “KU LO SA,” Cheat Codes and Matt Stell with “When You Know,” YG and Lil Wayne with “Miss My Dawgs,” MOD SUN and Charlotte Sands with “SEXOXO” and more.

After lots and lots of debate, we compiled a list of our all-time favorite releases from this week’s New Music Friday playlist! Keep scrolling to see our picks, and let us know what you think of them by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post, or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
