New Music Friday: Taylor Swift Releases “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” Ultimately ‘Telling a Tale of Growing Up, Flailing, Flying and Crashing”

Long Live” the one and only, Taylor Swift!

As a part of this week’s New Music Friday, the GRAMMY Award-winning artist released her third re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), serving as a follow-up to Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version), which both dropped in 2021.

After TONS of subtle teasers, Taylor Swift officially announced that Speak Now was the next chapter of her six-album endeavor during her first of three Eras Tour shows in Nashville, Tennessee, ultimately sharing its release date on the screen behind her.

The superstar then took to Instagram on May 5th to share the exciting news with the rest of the world, revealing to her 267 million followers, “It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆)”

“I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th. Pre-order now at TaylorSwift.com 💜💜💜,” the post continued.

Fast forward to today (July 7th) and the legendary singer-songwriter took to Instagram AGAIN to express her excitement for this new album: “It’s here. It’s yours, it’s mine, it’s ours. It’s an album I wrote alone about the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas and tragedies I lived out as a young woman between 18 and 20. I remember making tracklist after tracklist, obsessing over the right way to tell the story.”

The post continued, “I had to be ruthless with my choices, and I left behind some songs I am still unfailingly proud of now. Therefore, you have six From The Vault tracks! I recorded this album when I was 32 (and still growing up, now) and the memories it brought back filled me with nostalgia and appreciation. For life, for you, for the fact that I get to reclaim my work. Thank you a million times, for the memories that break our fall. 💥🐉🏰 Speak Now (MY VERSION!) is out now.”

While the album consists of ALL of its original tracks, from both the original and deluxe versions of Speak Now, “Electric Touch” featuring Fall Out Boy, “When Emma Falls In Love,” “I Can See You,” “Castles Crumbling” featuring Hayley Williams, “Foolish One” and “Timeless” are sure to be chart-topping hits in no time.

While we count down the days until Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version), 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Reputation (Taylor’s Version) are finally released, it is clear that we are going to have this long-awaited re-recorded album on repeat until further notice…
