The New England Patriots have gone into their division and taken an elite weapon as the Pats signed long-time Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki to a one-year $9 million deal. Gesicki had five touchdowns last season and 362 receiving yards on 32 receptions.

Throughout his five seasons in Miami, Gesicki had three different head coaches and a carousel of quarterbacks until he found great chemistry with Tua Tagovailoa. Adam Gase, Brian Flores, and the current Dolphins head man Mike McDaniel were all unable to fully maximize Gesicki as the trio of coaches would often leave Gesicki on the sidelines rather than involving him in the offense.
With that said, Gesicki has had countless eye-opening catches throughout his career, including an incredible snag in the endzone while triple-covered against the Kansas City Chiefs a few seasons ago. Gesicki will now face off against the Dolphins twice next season in a Patriots uniform.

As for the Patriots, this is a tremendous signing for Belichick and co as the team signs arguably the best pass-catching tight end in the NFL on a cheap one-year deal. It is a very low-risk, high-reward signing for the Pats, as this could be a massive steal for them.
As for Gesicki, he will now be playing for his fourth head coach in six seasons while also trying to find chemistry with another quarterback in Mac Jones. Something of note, Gesicki will reunite with former Dolphins teammate DeVante Parker.
