The Major League Baseball Playoffs has reached its ultimate stage as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the San Diego Padres in the NLCS and the Houston Astros beat the New York Yankees in the ALCS.
The Astros come into the World Series as the number one seed in the American League, while the Phillies go into it as the number six seed in the National League.

It has been quite a ride for the Philadelphia Phillies within the last couple of seasons after multiple high-priced acquisitions like outfielder Bryce Harper and catcher J.T. Realmuto; plus bullpen struggles as well as coaching changes, but now, they have the chance to take all of that noise away by having the opportunity of competing to be the best team in the baseball world.
In game five of the NLCS, the Phillies were trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth when suddenly Bryce Harper came up to the plate and hit a two-run home run to give Philly a 4-3 lead.

Then, in the ninth inning, with three outs away from a World Series berth, pitcher David Robertson was put into the game to close it out. After allowing two Padres to get on base, Ranger Suarez was substituted into the game in place of Robertson and would get the job done with the potential game-tying run just 90 feet away from home plate and the potential go-ahead runner on second base.

As for Houston, they had a comeback of their own as they trailed early in game four of the ALCS 3-0 as the Yankees would score early in the contest, then in the next inning, the Astros would rally and score four runs to take a 4-3 lead; more lead changes would occur, but ultimately the Astros would take the final lead of the game on a base hit from third baseman Alex Bregman that would bring in rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena to score in the top of the seventh inning to secure the 6-5 win and their fourth World Series appearance in the last six seasons.
