Q&A: Jade Patteri Spills the Tea on Her New Song “Invisible (Bang Remix)”

Jade Patteri’s latest remix is out now.

Since its launch on April 2, the singer/songwriter’s “Invisible (Bang Remix)” has been empowering us with an important message about letting go of all the toxicity in our lives.

The original song “Invisible” reminds audiences to move on from any hardships in life with the hope that brighter moments will eventually come true.

To match the calm and reflective vibes of the original recording, Patteri shot the music video at a pastel-colored beach in a floral print dress. But it wasn’t always a sunny scene. When the video opens, we see clips of Patteri alone in the rain underneath a dark sky, showing fans that anyone can make a comeback from even their hardest days.

With over 30,000 YouTube views and counting, it’s safe to say the video saw great levels of interest from Patteri’s fandom. In response to this exceptional reception, it only made sense for Patteri to build off her past success with an epic remix.

Patteri still shares the same story of resilience in the Bang Remix. However, she swaps the slow and mellow sounds for a much more upbeat tune that makes us feel like dancing every time we give the song a listen!

This remix marks Patteri’s return to the spotlight following her last song “Unity” which was also written with a socially conscious intent. Back in October, Patteri gave us the scoop on her motivations to craft a musical piece that would help end racial biases.

“I wanted to create a story that challenges us for a moment to learn and to listen to one another, without biases, and perhaps choose to befriend someone from the other side of the aisle,” she revealed in the interview.

To create a memorable music video that takes us through a relationship eventually interrupted by discriminatory behaviours amid a pandemic, Patteri worked with lead dancers Marcus Mitchell (Step It Up) and Kayla Radmaski (So You Think You Can Dance). We can’t wait to see what her plans for visually expressing this new release will entail!

Recently, we had a chance to chat with Patteri about the new remix and she spilled the tea on some of her backstage moments. We even managed to get exclusive news on her future music video clues.

Celeb Secrets: What kind of personal experiences inspired you to create the Bang Remix of “Invisible”?

Jade Patteri: “First off!  Bang, the incredibly talented artist that remixed ‘Invisible,’ I found through my friend who Bang had done a remix for. After hearing his work I immediately loved it and decided to reach out to him to see if he would be interested in remixing a song off of my new EP ‘Unity’ to which he said yes!  After sending him all the stems he sent the remix of “Invisible” over to me and I was absolutely blown away. So, I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do and make sure to check out the original version of ‘Invisible’ while you’re at it!”

CS: In what ways did working on the song help you let go of your own burdens?

JP: “Well the original song and vocals are no different from the remix so the message and theme remain the same. ‘Invisible’ is about opening your eyes to the light around you and inside of you and letting go of the toxicity you’re in. I wrote this song as a realization that living in the past and living in the lies we tell ourselves everyday only causes us pain and healing from that pain, and moving on brings so much freedom and peace and I believe that message comes across just as much in the remix.”

CS: How does the energy and sound in the remix differ from your original version of “Invisible?”

JP: “They are stylistically diametrically opposed. The original version of ‘Invisible’ is a peaceful pop sound whereas the remix is high octane energy with an electronic, dance pop style. They both have the same lyrics, meaning and vocals but after hearing them both you would think that you heard two completely different songs! Which is cool in my opinion because you get two different takes on the same song.”

CS: Why did you feel as though “Invisible” would be a great song to remix above all your other singles?

JP: “That’s actually a funny story because Bang originally wanted to remix ‘Imperfectly Perfect’ but we ran into some complications and ended up remixing ‘Invisible’ instead. At first I was hesitant because I thought ‘Imperfectly Perfect’ would be a better song to remix, but hey the best bakery goods often are created by mistake! So after Bang sent me the remix for ‘Invisible’ I knew that those complications ended up being a blessing because he nailed it!”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any secrets or fun facts that you’d like to share with us about the recording process for ‘Invisible (Bang Remix)?’

JP: ‘As far as recording the song is concerned, we used the same vocals that were in the original song so unfortunately there aren’t any secrets or fun facts there. But if we’re on the topic of secrets about this song, I’ll say that there may or may not be a music video coming your way very, very soon! But shhh….’

CS: Since you’re a dancer, what style of dance fits the remix best in your opinion?

JP: “Definitely hip hop! This is a very upbeat dance song so any type of fast paced or high energy dancing would fit the style perfectly!”

CS: If you were tasked with creating a music video for the remix, what would the scene look like?

JP: “As stated earlier, a music video for this remix may or may not be in the works right now and we may or may not have hip hop dancing incorporated in this video. And it may or may not look like it could be an episode of a Netflix show that rhymes with ‘plaque nearer!'”

CS: Can we expect to see a music video for the new song anytime soon?

JP: “I think I’ve said too much! Shhhhh….”

CS: How do you hope your fans will feel when they hear the remix for the first time?

JP: “In this current environment we need joy and purpose, so hopefully my supporters feel excited, inspired and in the mood to dance.”

CS: Most importantly, what message do you want to send across to your audience by releasing the remix?

JP: “We have so much emotional distress right now.  Whether brought on internally or externally, we question, we doubt and we see what others inherently do NOT see. My prayer is that love opens the eyes to the miracles that we are; beautifully flawed and distinctly different. The invisible is different for everyone, the possibilities are endless. But the core is to love yourself for who you are, not who you think the world should want you to be.”
