CS: Tell us about “Not Perfect.” What inspired you to write this song?

KK: ”Not Perfect’ is a catchy pop tune that spreads positive energy to all genders. The inspiration behind this song came from the society I was surrounded by. I saw many girls and boys hiding their true identity and not accepting their flaws, beliefs, or values. I hope that listeners would take away the message of being who they are and embracing their true self confidently.”

CS: We hear that you wrote this song on your own. What inspired you to write the song and what is your songwriting process like?

KK: “The process of writing the song began with composing the melody and then writing the lyrics to accompany it. The inspiration behind the lyrics was really gathered from my surroundings. I began seeing a pattern of my peers covering up their true identity to fit in and not embracing who they are confidently. I wanted to create an empowering song for all listeners in order to change this.”

CS: If you could collaborate with any other artists who would it be and why?

KK: “Iggy Azalea. I love how her music speaks to me and relates to how I’m thinking and feeling. I would love to get to the point where I can do that with my listeners.”
