It’s back and better than ever! Red Bull Dance Your Style returns for the 2024 season, and we’re not lying when we say it’s the most stacked contest yet.
The energy drink company — which is also known for throwing gnarly events across the world for extreme sports and culture (remember when we went to Cliff Diving and Culture Clash?) — revealed that their premiere global street dance competition will kick off regional contests on April 20th in Chicago and travel to Memphis, Boston, and Los Angeles before concluding with the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals in Atlanta beginning May 16th.
Bringing all types of dancers and their respective styles under one roof, competitors will battle one-on-one via bracket style to randomly selected music to win the audience vote and advance to the next round. With no panel of judges, planned choreography or pre-chosen music, each dancer will have to embrace the current moment, which is the core of Dance Your Style.
In the lead up to the regional qualifiers, nineteen city auditions will be hosted throughout the U.S., giving dancers of any experience level, background, and style the chance to compete on the official Red Bull Dance Your Style regional and even national qualifier stages based on performance. Following the final regional qualifier in Los Angeles on May 11, the winners from each round will pack their bags and head to Hotlanta for the Red Bull Dance Your Style USA Weekender for the national championship title and the opportunity to represent the United States at the World Finals in Mumbai, India on November 9, 2024.
Set for May 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia, Red Bull’s USA Weekender will celebrate the city’s deeply rooted culture and dance community. Known as the Mecca of Southern hip-hop, ATL is home to diverse and innovative street dance styles from the Bankhead Bounce and Crank That to the Dab and Nae Nae, as Atlanta’s Black community continues to birth dance trends that sweep the globe.
“Red Bull Dance Your Style is a space where you can witness amazing artistry from all over the globe. The dance community is filled with so many different voices and backgrounds, so it’s important to amplify all styles of dance that people might not be aware of,” says The Crown, winner of the 2022 U.S. Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final in a statement. “Each year, this competition offers an inside look at everything dance has to offer, and it’s an endless celebration of cultures entwining.”
