It’s back and better than ever! Red Bull Dance Your Style returns for the 2023 season, and we’re not lying when we say it’s the most stacked contest yet!
The energy drink company — which is also known for throwing gnarly events across the world for extreme sports and culture (remember when we went to Cliff Diving and Culture Clash?) — revealed that their premiere global street dance competition will kick off March 25th in Memphis and travel to Los Angeles, Tampa, Boston, Oakland, and three new cities, Baltimore, Denver, and Charlotte before concluding with the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals in Chicago.
Bringing all types of dancers and their respective styles under one roof, competitors will battle one-on-one via bracket style to randomly selected music to win the audience vote and advance to the next round. With no panel of judges, planned choreography or pre-chosen music, each dancer will have to embrace the current moment, which is the core of Dance Your Style.
Following the eighth and final regional qualifier in Charlotte on May 6, the winners from each round will pack their bags and head to the Windy City for the Red Bull Dance Your Style USA Weekender for the national championship title and the opportunity to represent the United States at the World Finals towards the end of the year.
Set for May 20th in the newly renovated Morton Salt Factory, Red Bull will showcase the Midwest’s historic dance scene at the National Finals by paying homage to these local, resilient dance communities who continue to dance for joy, rather than fame.
“Red Bull Dance Your Style is a space where you can witness amazing artistry from all over the globe. The dance community is filled with so many different voices and backgrounds, so it’s important to amplify all styles of dance that people might not be aware of,” says The Crown, winner of the 2022 U.S. Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final in a statement. “Each year, this competition offers an inside look at everything dance has to offer, and it’s an endless celebration of cultures entwining.”
