“I’m so excited to partner with them and to continue to expand that ever-evolving story, our narratives,” Palmer reveals, “Some of our dream goals this year would be from the podcast to videos and hopefully when the world begins to open up for real, initiatives outside of online that continue to allow us a platform to meet and talk and elevate.”

Along with the exciting announcement of Palmer’s new position on the team, Unbothered also released its first-ever digital cover, in which Palmer has graced the cover. On its timely release of Earth Day, the issue highlights Black women’s complicated relationship with wellness and self-care as they fight for the future of the environment and explore alternative forms of wellness for Black women.

Shot by Kanya Iwana, Palmer is shown beautifully expressive and bright, which is the embodiment of Palmer herself! In her interview for the digital issue, the cover star talks about her journey navigating her anxiety and depression alongside her highly demanding career. Palmer even revealed her favorite form of self-care: taking time to be by herself.

“When I really need a break to rejuvenate, I don’t wanna be around anyone,” Palmer says.”Not a romantic person, not a friend, not a mom, not a dad, not a sister, not a brother, not anyone. It gets to the point where I’m exerting so much energy that I really just have to be around no one.”

Palmer will take her position as Creative Advisor alongside newly appointed Deputy Director, Brookie Obie, who will oversee the execution of Unbothered’s editorial strategy and drive its day-to-day content operations.

We’re so excited to see Palmer take on this creative endeavor and expand the space of bringing Black joy and creatives into the community!
