Get ready for lots of summer bops from Russell Dickerson!
After releasing his self-titled album this past November, featuring smash hits like “She Likes It” with Jake Scott, “I Wonder” and “God Gave Me A Girl,” the country singer is currently in the process of making some brand new tunes that are exactly what we need for some fun in the sun.
“We got a little summer something something coming out, and [we’re] just busting away at that and trying to get that out as soon as possible,” Russell told Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder at the 2023 CMT Music Awards in Austin, Texas on Sunday (April 2nd).
Known for having a say in pretty much everything he releases, the chart topping superstar revealed that his new material is the first body of work where he did not write every song.
“Tyler Hubbard sent me a song… actually, Thomas Rhett showed me a song that Tyler had written, and he was like, ‘Dude, check out this song T-Hub just sent.’ I was like, ‘Are you cutting that? Like, what?’ and he was like, ‘No, I don’t think I can pull it off,’ and I was like, ‘I can!'” he shared.
“It’s a new experience to cut an outside song, but I’m jacked,” Dickerson concluded passionately.
When asked the release date of this exciting summer tune, the Tennessee native was not willing to give it away just yet…
“I’ll give you June,” Dickerson said slyly to Schroder on the aqua carpet.
Aside from creating new music, Russell Dickerson has some very exciting live performances on the way.
When asked what festivals he will be performing at this season, the 35-year-old said confidently, “I don’t even know. I haven’t even looked. I don’t even know, but I just show up and we crush it. That’s all I know how to do.”
After touring alongside Tim McGraw AND completing a sold-out tour throughout the UK this past summer/fall, the talented singer-songwriter has no plans to hop off the road anytime soon.
“We are checking a bucket list off this year. This is the first year to play arenas,” Dickerson gushed. “That’s something we’ve been working towards as a team for a long time, and to see those dates pop up and it’s like ‘blah, blah arena,’ I’m like ‘Me? What?'”
