Long-time Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been traded to the Denver Broncos.
In one of the largest blockbuster deals in NFL history, the Broncos have agreed to send prospects and a boatload of draft picks to the Seahawks in exchange for the Seattle legend.
Ever since making his NFL debut with the Seahawks in 2012, Wilson led the team to their lone Super Bowl victory in 2014. But now, it appears that era is over as the Seahawks have struggled in recent seasons, and now have the tools necessary to rebuild, albeit without their franchise quarterback. Denver, meanwhile, now has a franchise quarterback to fill the hole left when Peyton Manning retired after his Super Bowl win with the Broncos in 2016.
SEATTLE, I Love You.
Forever Grateful.

The news comes after Aaron Rodgers agreed to a record-breaking 4-year, $200 million extension with the Green Bay Packers, officially ending any thought of him signing with the Broncos. It also comes following a somewhat bizarre story surrounding the team, with Antonio Brown and Kanye West showing interest in purchasing the Broncos.
The trade follows an arguably frustrating 2021 season for the Seahawks, in which they finished in last place in the NFC West with a 7-10 record, and Wilson was at unease with the team’s chemistry and rebuilding process. Wilson also denied a trade to Washington after the Commanders (then called the Football Team) expressed interest in him.
After the 33-year-old agreed to be traded to the Broncos, their chances of winning next year’s Super Bowl increased dramatically, going from 25-1 to 12-1 at the online sportsbook. The trade will also save the Seahawks $11 million in cap space, a facet so desperately sought in the NFL, but it will add $26 million in dead money for the team.
