Solange had an exciting birthday weekend this year!Â
After a performance at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK on Saturday (June 24), thesongwriter, recording artist and activist made her way to Los Angeles for the 2017 BET Awards Sunday night (June 25).
Dressed in a bodysuit by Alix, Yohji Yamamoto pants, Zana Bayne belt and shoes by Dorateymur, Solange accepted BET’s Centric Award honoring her work for “Cranes in the Sky†off her critically acclaimed album, A Seat at the Table.Â
“I just want to thank BET for my teenage years, for giving me images of queens like Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim and Aaliyah and Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill,” Solange said. “And showing me those images and letting me know that the sky’s the limit.”

Later in the show, Solange took the stage again to help BET and My Black is Beautiful honor social justice activist Tamika Mallory by presenting Tamika with the Shine A Light Award.
Solange used the moment to praise Tamika’s advocacy work and speak out against brutality, asking for a moment of silence, “to reflect on the lives of our brothers and sisters that we have lost due to brutality and violence.”
