If you’ve been watching Stranger Things since the very beginning and are all caught up, then you may want to brace yourselves for season 4 because a new teaser trailer dropped and it looks like another familiar face just might be back.
(Warning: season 3 spoilers ahead)
The minute-long preview starts off with eery sounds of children’s laughter as they’re doing activities in the Hawkins Laboratory. The camera then leads into the hallway, where we see Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), also known as “Papa,” walk into the room and greet the children that presumably also have special powers, much like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). After moving down to the other end of the hallway, the camera then swings around and shows Eleven’s door before she is shown for a flash as the teaser ends.
Whether or not the show is actually bringing back Modine’s character (since he presumably died in the first season) or if this teaser is only a flashback, the fourth season is said to explore even more of Eleven’s past.
Netflix first teased the upcoming season for their hit show back in February 2020 when they released the first teaser trailer that answered a question everyone had: Did chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) really die?
The answer is no after the trailer shows us that Hopper is actually alive and well. Except now he’s somewhere on a Soviet-era work camp in snowy and cold Russia, revealing to the viewers that he survived the explosion during season 3’s finale.
Both of the videos have captions, “001/004 and 002/004.” So, it seems that we should expect to get two more teasers at some point before the premiere of the fourth season.
As with many shows and films, Netflix had to delay the release of the new installment for Stranger Things since they had to stop filming due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although no release date has been announced, we can only assume that it won’t be too far off since the show promotion is picking back up again.
