Taylor Swift is lending her support to the LGBTQ+ community in a major way this Pride Month.
On Tuesday (June 1), Swift posted a statement on Twitter announcing her backing of GLAAD’s “Summer of Equality” campaign. The goal of the campaign is to push Congress to pass the Equality Act.

In the singer’s statement, she said, “I want to take a moment and thank the courageous activists, advocates and allies for their dedication to fighting against discrimination and hatred. And as always, today I’m sending my respect and love to those bravely living out their truth, even when the world we live in still makes that so hard to do. Who you love and how you identify shouldn’t put you in danger, leave you vulnerable or hold you back in life. I proudly join GLAAD in their #summerofequality and add my voice to those who support the Equality Act. Happy Pride Month!”
Sarah Kate Ellis, the President and CEO of GLAAD, graciously responded to Swift in a tweet.

The Equality Act provides LGBTQ+ Americans with absolute protections against discrimination.
GLAAD is a media organization that has been fighting for the protections and rights of LGBTQ+ Americans for decades. With this campaign, they plan to educate Americans on what they can do to get the Equality Act bill passed.
