The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are back and in-person, baby!
After moving to Los Angeles in 2020 and 2021, the BBMAs will officially return to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Hosts, nominees, and performers are yet to be announced, but we should be expecting more news and announcements in the coming weeks.
Last year, the BBMAs took place surrounding the Microsoft Theater in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles and was hosted by Nick Jonas. The Weeknd who took home the most awards with 10 wins. Artists like Drake and P!NK were also honored last year., with Drake taking home the Artist of the Decade Award and P!NK receiving the Icon Award, respectively. If 2021 gives an indication of what 2022’s show will be like, we expect nothing less than a star-studded evening with unforgettable performances.
So, how does the award show determine who takes home the coveted prizes? Well, Billboard broke down their nomination process by saying, “Billboard Music Awards nominees and winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay, and touring, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data.”
And even though the finalists have yet to be revealed, Celeb Secrets does have some predictions as to who may be amongst the nominees, including Billboard’s Woman of the Year, recipient Olivia Rodrigo. The “good 4 u” singer has been crushing it on the Billboard charts and has broken streaming records worldwide.
Taylor Swift, is another artist who is bound to get a nomination after releasing Red (Taylor’s Version) in November of last year, along with the ten minute version and short film All Too Well. Other potential contenders we see making the cut include Justin Bieber, The Kid LAROI, and Billie Eilish.
