The Force is Strong with Billie Lourd’s Son

Billie Lourd celebrated Star Wars Day (“May the 4th be with you”) in the best way with a tribute to her late mother Carrie Fisher.

On her Instagram, Lourd posted an adorable picture of her son watching Kingston Fisher as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars film A New Hope on her laptop. Swiping left, you will see that Kingston is wearing a Princess Leia onesie.

Lourd, known for her roles on Scream Queens and American Horror Story, lost her mom in 2016 after she suffered from cardiac arrest. In a sad turn of events, Lourd also lost her grandmother – acting legend Debbie Reynolds – the following day. Both actresses are now at rest in Hollywood’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In 2018, Lourd revealed to Entertainment Tonight that it was American Horror Story that helped her through her grieving process.

“When [creator] Ryan [Murphy] offered me Cult, it was just a few months after my mom passed, and it honestly helped me process all of my emotions through these characters,” she said. “And it’s been really healing and cathartic in an amazing way and getting to be around all the incredible people on set, they’ve become like a family to me, and I cannot thank Ryan enough. Honestly, it kind of saved my life.”

Now engaged to actor Austen Rydell, the couple welcomed their son into the world this past September. Lourd appeared in the sequel trilogy of Star Wars films from 2015-2019.

Fisher starred in the original Star Wars trilogy from 1977 to 1983 before returning to her role as Princess Leia in 2015’s The Force Awakens. She filmed her final scenes for 2017’s The Last Jedi and was slated to return for 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. However, she died before filming commenced and her entire role was created using unused footage from the previous films along with some CGI in flashback scenes where Lourd filled in as the physical stand-in.

“Billie was playing her mother,” ILM Visual Effects Supervisor Patrick Tubach told Yahoo! Entertainment. “It was a poignant thing, and something that nobody took lightly — that she was willing to stand in for her mom.”

Time will tell if Lourd’s son will follow in his mom, grandma and great-grandma’s footsteps of being an actor, but for now we know the force is strong within him.
