After a couple of impressive seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, outside linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair is heading to Nashville. The former FAU Owl signed a one-year $5 million contract with the Tennessee Titans.

Al-Shaair will have a tremendous opportunity to earn more playing time with the Titans than with the Niners. This is a very under-the-radar move for the Titans, as Al-Shaair has shown many promising flashes throughout his young career. The Titans were able to improve their run defense last season, so this move could help them with pressuring quarterbacks and help their pass rush get to the same level as their run defense.
Al-Shaair spent the first four seasons of his career with San Fran and totaled 199 combined tackles, two interceptions, and two sacks in 56 games. Al-Shaair was undrafted in 2019 and thus still has that extra chip on his shoulder, as he has been doubted in the past. Al-Shaair can quiet the critics with consistent play as a vital member of the Tennessee Titans defensive unit.

As for the Niners, although surprising to see Al-Shaair not be brought back to the team, the team has many high contracts, so it is impossible to keep everybody around year in and year out. This seems like a nice pairing that will benefit both sides.
