Tua Tagovailoa Suffers Scary Injury in Dolphins 27-15 Loss to Bengals

During the first game of week four, in which the Cincinnati Bengals handed the Miami Dolphins their first loss of the season, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a brutal injury that would lead to him being stretchered off the field. The Bengals won the prime-time showdown by a score of 27-15.

After being slammed to the ground during a play, Tagovailoa’s hand looked to be paralyzed, and the young quarterback was on the ground without moving for at least five minutes; he would end up being put on a stretcher and stretchered off the field with both the Bengals and Dolphins fans in the stadium chanting, “Tua, Tua, Tua.”

Tagovailoa would be taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he would be treated for possible head and neck injuries. Thankfully at 9:48 pm ET, the Miami Dolphins took to Twitter to announce that Tagovailoa was conscious and had movement in all his extremities.

Following the departure of Tagovailoa from the game, Miami-born Teddy Bridgewater wound up stepping into the game in Tagovailoa’s place. Bridgewater should be highly praised for his fellow QB brother going down after coming into the game without missing a beat.

Every single Dolphins player should be commended for the willingness to continue to give it their all play after player after such a heartbreaking scene took place in which one of their own had to be stretchered off like that. The Bengals should also be praised for their willingness to continue to play and give it their all in this case, yes, Tagovailoa is not part of their team, but it is still gut-wrenching to see any player go down, regardless if the player is your opponent.

This was arguably one of the scariest injuries the league has ever seen and one of the most chilling atmospheres as we all waited for Tagovailoa to be okay.

Tagovailoa was thankfully released from the UC Medical Center and would end up being able to fly back home to Miami with his team per the Dolphins via Twitter.

We know that if anyone can get through such a catastrophic moment and situation like this, it’s Tua Tagovailoa, as he has overcome adversity repeatedly and will do so again.

Tua Tagovailoa is the ultimate warrior, and we wish him and his family all the best going forward.
