The USMNT started in control of the game but, throughout that period of control, were unable to make any goals, thus never taking the lead. With that said, the Netherlands gained control of the contest around the 10th minute when Memphis Depay nailed a goal to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The Netherlands was able to capitalize with another goal right before halftime to take a 2-0 lead on a goal made by Daley Blind.
During the second half of the match, the USMNT was able to get on the scoreboard on an almost impossible make by Haji Wright in the 76th minute of the game; but the Netherlands was able to strengthen their lead once again in the 81st minute with a goal from Denzel Dumfries which would end up being the final goal of the game to give the Netherlands the 3-1 win over the USMNT.

The Netherlands will look to keep their run going as they face off against Lionel Messi and Argentina on Friday, December 9, at 2:00 pm ET on FOX and Telemundo.
As for the USMNT, even though losing always hurts and winning is always the ultimate goal, there is a lot that this team and the American people should be proud of as this team is one of the youngest United States teams ever and showed much promise and fight in games against quality opponents like the Netherlands and England.
These young players will continue to improve and be even better for their next go at it, which will be in 2026 as the World Cup is set to be held in the USA and Canada.
Much credit should go to head coach Gregg Berhalter and his staff, as their development and game plans have been tremendous and are a big part of the USMNT being respected worldwide for the first time in a long time.
