What You Need To Know About “The Mean Girls Musical” Movie Directed By Tina Frey

Mean Girls is coming back to the big screen!

The Tony-nominated show will be adapted into a movie by Paramount Pictures, continuing the popularity of the 2004 film and 2018 Broadway musical of the same name.

Tina Fey, who authored both the original film and the musical, first revealed plans for the musical movie in January 2020 followed by the official cast list presented in December 2022.

“I’m very excited to bring Mean Girls back to the big screen,” Fey said in a statement to Playbill at the time. “It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe, and I love them dearly.”

Since its release almost two decades ago, the original movie, starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried, has established itself as a cult classic with several catchphrases and even a national holiday.
