The New York Yankees have once again done what the Yankees are known for by giving all-star pitcher Carlos Rodon a $162 million contract for a length of six years.
Rodon is coming off a 14-8, 2.88 ERA season with the San Francisco Giants, and will now be joining a Yankees starting rotation that includes two other all-stars in Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes.

For the Yankees, this is a typical move that a team that feels they are close to contending makes, and the Yankees have been sitting around the fringe-contender level for a while now.
By adding Rodon, the Yanks are strengthening their starting pitching rotation’s depth and overall consistency. It is essential for the Yankees to improve their pitching core; the team has struggled in that department for the last couple of seasons while essentially wasting a World Series-caliber lineup each season, and that lineup will keep getting older as time goes on.
This may just be the start for the Bronx Bombers in their pursuit of getting better pitchers, as they can also use some upgrades in their bullpen.
As for Rodon, he lands in arguably the most recognizable organization in all of sports with a loyal fanbase and is now part of a team that is known for its winning tradition over the years. After spending some time with the White Sox and the Giants, it now feels like Rodon may have found his home for the foreseeable future.
