Halloween is just around the corner, which means every TV station is showing a repeated cycle of the same old same old Halloween movies.

NOTHING NEW — what a bore!

However, that’s not the case for every movie. This is a list of my 3 favorite Halloween movies that can be watched year after year and still never get old.

In fact, watching them has become a part of the yearly Halloween tradition.

Hocus Pocus

The Sanderson sisters are a coven of witches who tried to take control of their town of Salem 3 centuries before the movie takes place. The sisters are then sentenced to death. Long story short they are dead for over 300 years, that is, until two curious teenagers accidentally free them to roam in the current year of 1993. The Sanderson sisters immediately get back to their evil doings, but with the help of a magical cat, the teenagers are finally able to stop the witches and save their town.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The movie is essentially based on Halloweentown’s Pumpkin King Jack Skellington and his adventures. He is bored with the same old Halloween traditions and seeks something more for their town. Jack then discovers Christmastown and loves every aspect of that town. He plots to bring the holiday under his control and does whatever he can to do this.

Casper

A friendly ghost who resides in a haunted mansion in Maine. He is not your typical ghost because he’s not into scaring people. In the movie, a teenaged girl Kat and her father James move into the mansion that Casper and his not so friendly uncles are haunting. James moves there with his daughter in attempt to communicate with the ghost world. To keep it short, Casper falls in love with Kat and the two grow very close. Talk about a long distance relationship!

What do you think of my list? Do you have a favorite Halloween movie that didn’t make the cut? Leave it in the comments below.
