“The Voice” Recap Battle Round 1 – March 28, 2016

SPOILER ALERT!

Last night the Battle Rounds of NBC’s The Voice kicked off to a fiery start full of steals and major losses. Miley Cyrus was in attendance as a key advisor with a lot of helpful advice for the performers. Of the many battles that took place, we thought two stood out above the rest.

Daniel Passino stole our hearts and the show with his cover of “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” by The Temptations. He took this classic song and amped it up with his adorable dance moves and definitely showed his personality throughout the song. Miley Cyrus told Passino that she knew who he was because she read and learned about him before coming to the show. He did not disappoint and put on a show to prove why he’s one to talk about; his vocals were solid and the last high note was killer and left viewers in awe. Unfortunately, he lost to fellow teammate Alisan Porter who slayed her battle performance with a cover of “River” by Joni MitchellChristina chose her to continue on. Porter nailed all of the things Cyrus and Aguilera told her to focus on and really connected with her piece, which made her rise above Passino.

The other battle that stood out was Paxton Ingram against Angie KeilhauerIngram covered “Hometown Glory” by AdeleAngie Keilhauer has been one of our favorites on Team Blake for quite some time, but during Ingram’s performance it was apparent that he was going to take the crown for this battle. Sure enough, he took the crown and sent Keilhauer home. He took Cyrus’ advice on every vocal change she recommended and it worked in his favor. Shelton knew he’d have a tough decision and it seemed as though he was as torn after hearing both of their performances; he even went as far to say that both contestants were favorites on his team. Ingram staying is great for Team Blake because he has so much soul and such a unique voice compared to his team he will really stand out compared to any other contestant on the show.
