Ariana Grande is set on moving on after splitting up from husband Dalton Gomez.
Shortly after the pop star’s split was made public, it has been reported that the singer, 30, is now seeing her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, who is playing Boq, Elphaba’s sister Nessarose’s love interest. Grande is playing Glinda. The report came from TMZ earlier today (July 20).
The two have been quietly seeing each other for a few months now, ever since the Grande separated from Gomez back in January after two years of marriage. Slater recently separated from his wife of five years as well.
A source for PEOPLE stated, “Ariana and Dalton separated in January. She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife.”
The source also stated that the “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” singer’s rigorous film schedule ultimately wore down on the two’s marriage as the pressure of long-distance amped up as Grande moved to the UK for the shoot, and Gomez works as a luxury real estate agent in Los Angeles.
They confessed, “She was happy in Los Angeles for a couple of years. She wanted to make a life there with Dalton. He is super focused on his career and needs to live in Los Angeles. It’s definitely been an issue for them. Dalton’s career is demanding and he can’t leave Los Angeles often. So when Grande started filming Wicked in England, they were in for a long-distance marriage. Ari has nothing but kind words to say about Dalton. During their marriage, he was her No. 1 fan.”
Slater rose to prominence after playing the lead role in the SpongeBob SquarePants musical on Broadway and has also recently separated from his high school sweetheart, Lilly Jay. They’ve been together since 2012 and recently welcomed a child together in January.
Recently, Grande drew attention after liking an Instagram post saying, “‘Never again will I be in a relationship with someone I fear.”
