Ariana Grande Will Join Lady Gaga to Perform “Rain On Me” at the 2020 MTV VMAs

Ariana Grande is headed to the VMAs!

The multiplatinum singer — who is also nominated 9 times this year — confirmed in an Instagram post that she will be joining Lady Gaga at the 2020 MTV VMAs to perform their smash hit “Rain On Me” for the first time ever later this month.

The news comes on the heels of the announcement that Miley Cyrus will be returning to the VMAs stage to perform her new single, “Midnight Sky.” All three superstars join the previously announced performers The WeekndBTSJ. BalvinDoja CatMalumaRoddy Ricch, and CNCO.

Grande is no stranger to the VMAs stage. She last performed in 2018 with an unforgettable rendition of her hit “God is a Woman” and has been nominated for 35 moonperson awards, ultimately winning five over the course of her career. 

This year, Ari can add up to nine pieces of hardware to her VMA collection in the coming weeks, as she’s up for Video of the Year (“Rain On Me”); Song of the Year (“Rain On Me”); Best Collaboration (“Rain On Me”); Best Collaboration (“Stuck with U”); Best Pop (“Rain On Me”); Best Music Video From Home (“Stuck with U”); Best Cinematography (“Rain On Me”); Best Visual Effects (“Rain On Me”); and Best Choreography (“Rain On Me).

Last month, MTV announced this year’s nominees for the VMAs and to no surprise, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the pack with nine nods each, closely followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd with six nominations. You can view the full list of nominees here.

Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best Quarantine Performance,” and more by visiting vma.mtv.com through August 23, 2020. Voting for “PUSH Best New Artist, Presented by Chime Banking,” will remain open.

Hosted by Keke Palmer, the 2020 MTV VMAs air on Sunday, August 30th @ 8PM ET/PT on MTV.
