Cardi B is generously covering the funeral and burial costs for the families of the 17 victims killed in a New York City fire.
The fire broke out earlier this month and burned through a 120-unit tower located in the “Up” rapper’s hometown of The Bronx, leaving 17 dead and multiple injured which, according to TMZ, ranged from ages two to fifty.
“I’m extremely proud to be from the Bronx and I have lots of family and friends who live and work there still,” she shared with CNN. “So, when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help… I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.”
The rapper has since joined forces Mayor Eric Adams to ensure anyone and everyone affected receives the help and support needed during these times.
Adams tells TMZ, “We are grateful for Cardi B, a real superstar on and off the mic, for granting some critical financial relief to families of the victims. The city will be forever thankful to her and also to the grassroots donors and corporate partners who have been able to offer immediate support for our neighbors in need, to reestablish themselves during this difficult time.”
The investigation regarding why the fire started is still ongoing.
