Darren Criss Releases “I Can’t Dance” + 8 Other “Glee” Stars’ Music Careers

Despite proving himself on Glee, Darren Criss released his newest single, “I Can’t Dance,” today (May 21), which coincides with the week of the show’s 12th anniversary.

Joining in the second season as Dalton Academy’s Warbler Blaine Anderson, Criss quickly rose to fame and became one of the show’s most beloved characters. His first number on the Glee – a cover of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” – rose to number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains one of the most popular songs to come out of the show.

Since Glee, fans have been begging for Criss to release his own album, but the actor has been hesitant. He released his second EP – the first one post-Glee – back in 2017, which was also the same year he released an EP with his brother Chuck Criss under the band name Computer Games.

Back on March 29, Criss announced that he would be releasing a series of character-driven singles. “f*kn around” premiered on April 9 and was later performed on The Late Late Show with James Corden – as the clean version “Runnin’ Around.”

This newest single has a bit of an ‘80s electronic vibe and is a definite bop.

“Half masc, half fem, half bad bitch, half brazen baller,” Criss described the song on his Instagram. “This song is an ode to both those we love to hate and those we hate to love. What can I say, I live for dualities.”

While we can’t wait to see what else Criss comes out with in this singles series, he is not the only Glee star to have a successful music career after the show ended. Click through to see eight of his cast members and what they have done in the music world.
