Demi Lovato Says We Should Stop Using The Word “Alien”

Demi Lovato is speaking up on extraterrestrials’ behalf.

During promotion for their new documentary Unidentified with Demi Lovato, the star took the time to explain that “aliens” is an offensive and derogatory term. While speaking with Pedestrian, the “Dancing with the Devil” singer said that they always try to clear up common misconceptions about UFOs, so they can try and bring ETs into a better light.

“I think the one [misconception] that bothers me are that they’re harmful or that they’ll come and take over the planet,” they said. “I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now. But I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything. That’s why I like to call them ETs!” the star told Entertainment Weekly.

Unidentified with Demi Lovato premiered on Peacock back in Sept. after they had a personal experience with extraterrestrials that made them want to know more. It follows the singer’s journey in search of definitive answers to some of the biggest questions about extraterrestrial life. Joined by their sister Dallas Lovato and their best friend Matthew Montgomery, Demi attempts to uncover the truth about UFO phenomena by meeting alien abductees, investigating recent eyewitness encounters, and digging up secret government reports.

“I had a pretty profound experience on my 28th birthday,” Lovato said. “We were stargazing and we tried to do this protocol where you make contact, and all of a sudden something showed up directly above us in the sky. It was huge lights that made a question mark, almost, in the sky — and then it just like blacked out. I realized [then] that my life was probably going to change in a spiritual way, because I have a spiritual connection to this journey as well. Ever since then, I started to look into this more and I wanted to do a show about it.”
