Dolphins Suffer Second Straight Loss After Hot Start in 40-17 Loss to Jets

After starting the season 3-0, the Miami Dolphins have now suffered their second loss in a row. Miami was defeated by division rivals, the New York Jets, 40-17.

After a magical start to the season led by rookie head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins have faced some very harsh circumstances in the last two weeks, of course, losing Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion in week four against the Bengals.

Then in their first offensive play against the Jets, backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was taken out of the game and into concussion protocols.

Thus, leaving third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson as the Dolphins QB1 for the remainder of the game.

The Dolphins managed to stay in this one until the fourth and final quarter, in which the offense couldn’t make anything happen, leaving the defense out on the field for a long time.

The Jets rookie class was tremendous in this one as second-round pick; running back Breece Hall out of Iowa State had his best game to date as a pro; rushing for 97 yards on 18 carries and catching two passes from Zach Wilson for 100 yards, Hall also had a touchdown on the ground in the game.

The Jets standout on the defensive side of the ball was rookie first-round pick Sauce Gardner, who came out rolling when he laid out Teddy Bridgewater on Miami’s first offensive play, as previously noted; Gardner also had an interception in the game.

The Dolphins will be home for their next two games as they take on the Minnesota Vikings in week six and then play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in week seven.

As for the Jets, they will travel to Green Bay for their week six matchup against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
