Elliot Page already came out as a transgender back in December 2020, but months went by before he was ready to discuss his true identity in an interview setting. Or so we thought until Oprah Winfrey came into the mix with her talk show magic.
In the TV-ready sneak peek, Page shared with five-million Instagram followers earlier today (April 29), him bursting into tears as he perfectly articulates exactly why viewing a man’s body every time he looks in the mirror is so empowering. From minor moments like simply walking out of a shower to constantly seeing yourself in a redefined lens – Page reveals he’s happier in every wake of life possible.
“My feelings aren’t really linear. I feel emerging joy and excitement one moment, and then in the next, profound sadness reading about people wanting to take gender-affirming health care away from children. I feel so grateful,” he says while sitting on a sofa chair across from Oprah. “I want to use the strength I have to help in all the ways that I can. How can I feel grateful for my joy, and embrace my joy, and allow myself to have that joy—but then put that joy and that love into action?”
Amid the heart-warming speech, we can see Page’s eyes well up which makes the moment so much more touching. In response, Oprah’s soothing voice consistently transforms the aura from a fast-paced TV reel to a deep and empathic scene of mindfulness.

“I think, like anything in life, things are always changing which is obviously one of the most beautiful things of being alive. One of the scariest and most beautiful,” Page adds in another sneak peek. “From where I’m sitting now, all I know is the degree of comfort, sense of home, ability to be present, feels so profound and life changing. And so what I look forward to is getting to move through the world in that way.”
