Anitta just brought her infectious Brazilian funk sound to the VMAs!
Returning to the famed stage for the third consecutive year, the 31-year-old opted for an action-packed medley of some of her current hits, including “Paradise” with DJ Khaled and Fat Joe, a striking rendition of “Alegría,” with Tiago PZK, and “Savage Funk.”
The Brazilian powerhouse kicked things off with her collaboration with Khaled and Fat Joe, before transitioning into her duet Tiago. Premiering their mutating banger together live for the first time, the dynamic duo — surrounded by dancers in fiery red ensembles — brought their Argentine and Brazilian flair to the show that was needed at the 2024 MTV VMAs.
But of course, the musical stage wasn’t the only place Anitta made a statement.
The “Envolver” singer turned heads as she walked the red carpet during the pre-show in a white corset-style dress with intricate lace-up detailing, paired with a sheer hood and flowing cape. She was also awarded the moon person for “Best Latin Video” for her song “Mil Veces,” which marked her third win in the category over the last three years.
“What an incredible year for Latin culture. I need to recognize Karol G, who has had an amazing year and tour that everyone has been watching. Congratulations to the other nominees as well, and especially to my country, which always supports me. There is a reason I’m always here and always come back, and it’s because I know Brazil always has my back. Being here every year, as the only representative of my country, is very special to me. Thank you for everything,” she said in her acceptance speech.
