Joe Hanson‘s newest single “Broken If It Don’t Break” has been resonating with Country music fans from all over, as the upbeat tune has over 74,000 streams on Spotify. Gearing up for the release of the track’s lyric video, Hanson gives Celeb Secrets an exclusive sneak peek before it officially drops.
“To me, this song is simply about being aware of your emotions,” Hanson tells Celeb Secrets. “I remember going through some stuff in a previous relationship that should’ve made my heart break, but I realized that it wasn’t and for me that’s when I got the clarity. I was looking for that if my heart isn’t breaking by this it’s already broken.”
Co-written by Hanson with Jen Denmark, Keesy Timmer and Anna Ord, the young Illinois native’s lyrics pair nicely with the midtempo, pop country melody put behind it. All about feeling emotions during a breakup, Hanson really hits the ball out of the park with this one, and he hopes that people know that they aren’t alone when listening to this song.
“My hope is that somebody who hears these songs receives encouragement by knowing that they are not the only ones walking in the shoes that they are in right now,” Hanson tells Celeb Secrets. “Oftentimes as humans we tend to magnify the very season that we’re in, however I hope this song brings a bigger perspective to the listener that there is light on the other side of a break up and there is hope at the other side of the dark season.”
“I also hope that these songs remind people that it’s okay to hurt. I think a lot of times we perceive broken hearts as a sense of being weak. That is absolutely NOT the truth. Being vulnerable, showing your hurts and struggles does not make you weak, it makes you human. A breakup is only temporary so don’t lose faith. I’ve learned that it’s the seasons of brokenness God walks me through that he’s using to draw me nearer to Jesus and experience his presence deeper.”

“Broken If I Don’t Break” is the follow up to Hanson’s previous single, “Part Of Me,” which has reached the Top 50 on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart. He has remained busy throughout the pandemic on social media by sharing covers of some of his favorite songs, but confirms that a new single is coming this October along with an EP on the way.
“We are currently working on putting out a new single at the end of October with a music video,” says Hanson, adding, “we’re hoping for an EP early next year.”

Singer/songwriter Joe Hanson is already breaking the mold, and he’s brand new to country music. He is equipped with a striking tenor voice and a knack for shaping a melody like a sculptor with stone: tastefully and expressively. Even now, Hanson knows how to write the kind of songs that stick in your head, with lyrics that reflect the bitter and the sweet he’s tasted in life. Since moving to town he has had the opportunity to attend writers retreats, where he met Keesy Timmer, who’d penned Kelsea Ballerini’s “Yeah Boy.” Hanson has also had the opportunity to open for some of Nashville’s best including Brantley Gilbert, Randy Houser, Russell Dickerson and Lindsay Ell.
