Jamaal Williams Scores Three Times in Lions 31-18 Win Against The Giants

The Detroit Lions picked up a massive win in week eleven after defeating the New York Giants 31-18 to improve 4-6 and pick up their third straight win. Running back Jamaal Williams led the way with three touchdowns in the game to become the NFL’s touchdown leader with 12 on the season.

The Lions have gone from 1-6 to 4-6 in just three weeks after defeating a Giants team that was 7-2 coming into the contest; Detroit went on the road and completely dominated the Giants from start to finish.

The Lions were led by a great running game and a tremendous all-around performance from their defense. As previously mentioned, Williams led the way in the touchdown department with three as well as 64 yards on 17 carries; joining Williams in the run game was Justin Jackson, who ran nine times for 66 yards, and third-year back D’Andre Swift, who ran five times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Second-year wideout Amon-Ra St.Brown also contributed nicely for Detroit, finishing the win with seven catches for 76 yards.

On the defensive side for the Lions, some standout performers were young defensive linemen Aidan Hutchinson and Alim McNeil, and a great job by veteran linebacker and team leader Alex Anzalone. Hutchinson finished the game with an interception, a pass deflection, and three tackles; McNeil dominated with three quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, and a sack. As for Anzalone, he had five tackles and two quarterback hits and was very active in this one.

Daniel Jones threw two interceptions for the Giants, and Saquon Barkley had his worst showing of the season, finishing with only 22 yards on fifteen carries. Much credit should be given to the Detroit Lions defensive staff led by Aaron Glenn, who had a tremendous gameplan setup as they completely shut down one of the best running backs in the NFL.

Detroit will look for their fourth straight win as Dan Campbell and the squad host the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving.

The Giants will look to bounce back on Thanksgiving and fly to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in an NFC East showdown.
