“Jane” Star Mason Blomberg is An Animal Lover, Just Like His On-Screen Character, “Yes, I Am Definitely An Animal Lover” (Exclusive)

Mason Blomberg is an actor on-the-rise!

Blomberg can currently be seen in the Apple TV+ series Jane starring alongside Ava Louise Murchison.

For those who don’t know, Jane is centered around the animal-loving best friend duo Jane (played by Murchison) and David (played by Blomberg) as they go on a journey to save endangered animals. Also part of these animal savings missions is a plush toy chimpanzee named Greybeard, who comes to life and assists Jane and David on their essential conquests.

The love of animals transcends the TV screen for Blomberg as he is a massive ally in helping animals, “I have loved animals since I was just a little kid.I became a vegetarian when I was 7 years old because I did not want to be the reason animals died”, said Blomberg.

Don’t let the show’s description fool you; this important show has some hilarious moments. Blomberg gave insight into his character, telling Celeb Secrets, “David is always cracking jokes. David is a really funny character and it was so fun playing him.”

Besides his leading role in Jane, Blomberg has also appeared in Shameless, Sydney to the Max, and is the voice of Kid Chip in Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

Celeb Secrets: You play a lead role in the Apple TV+ series, “Jane.” What was it like to score this opportunity? Do you believe this role will elevate your acting career?

Mason Blomberg: “It was amazing to get this opportunity! I got to travel to so many different places to film and I got to meet so many awesome people. I am so lucky to have spent a whole year on set doing what I love! And I believe this will elevate my acting career because it is one of my first lead roles in a show. I learned so much on set everyday – from the crew, the other actors, and the directors!”

CS: Tell us about the series “Jane.” What could TV-goers expect?

MB: “Jane is about a 9-year-old  aspiring environmentalist, Jane Garcia, and her two best friends, David and graveyard the chimpanzee. The three friends go on Amazing Adventures to try and save endangered species. The show is a mix of live action and the most realistic CGI animation. It’s a really fun show full of adventure, humor, and really important lessons about what we can all do to help the environment and animals.”

CS: What is one thing you would like the viewers to learn or take away from the show?

MB: “One thing that I’m hoping the viewers take away from the show is that no matter their age they can help the environment every day. Even if they’re really little kids they can make a big difference in the world.”

CS: Tell us about your character David. How did you prepare for the role?

MB: “David is always learning from his friend Jane. He goes on these imaginary adventures with her, even though he often gets scared. He still does it because he cares and wants to help save the animals. To cope with these scary situations, David is always cracking jokes. David is a really funny character and it was so fun playing him. David also loves food so I always got to eat on set which was really fun.  I really relate to David in so many ways so it was easy to get into character. Every day after I got home from the set, I would memorize my lines for the next day.”

CS: Do you consider yourself an animal lover?

MB: “Yes, I am definitely an animal lover. I have loved animals since I was just a little kid.I became a vegetarian when I was 7 years old because I did not want to be the reason animals died. I’m always reading non-fiction books about the planet, conservation, and animals to learn more. I try to take steps every day to help, like whenever I go to the parks I spend some of my time there  picking up trash. Dr Jane Goodall has always been my idol.”

CS: You traveled the world for over a year to film “Jane.” What was this experience like, and what was your favorite memory?

MB: “The experience of traveling around the world was so cool! I got to see so many different ecosystems at work and so many different environments and animals.  I have so many different favorite memories so I’m just going to tell you about the time I met the two last Northern white rhinos. It was really kind of an emotionalexperience because they were the last ones on the earth and they’re going to be extinct because they can’t make babies. It is very sad but was also such a good reminder of why this show Jane is important! We need to help motivate our next generation to make a difference!”

CS: Were you aware of Dr. Jane Goodall’s work before joining the show? Why did you want to become an ambassador for the Jane Goodall Institute?

MB: “Yes, I was aware of the work of Dr. Jane Goodall before I booked the job, she was actually my idol! I had already read one of her books. I want to be an ambassador for the Jane Goodall Institute because I want to help in every way I can to inspire other kids to make changes to help our environment and animals. The Roots and Shoots program is doing a great job at inspiring other kids and I love that I will get to be a part of this.”

CS: Following your time on the show, will you continue to be an animal advocate? How do you plan to demand change in this space?

MB: “Yes, in fact I think this show will help me to have a bigger voice when it comes to being an animal advocate. I’m going to continue trying to inspire kids around me to make small changes in their life. I am also going to be joining the Jane Goodall Institute Roots and Shoots program as one of their ambassadors. I’m really excited to continue this work.”

CS: What was the dynamic like on set with your co-stars?

MB: “My co-star Ava Louise and I became good friends on set and we did so many things together in our down time. We like making funny tick-tocks and skits. We made a fort that we ended up calling DANES crib (David mixed with Jane=DANE). I got super lucky to have such a fun co-star to work with and hang out with onset. Tamara, who plays Jane’s mom on the show, was all so much fun to be with! I call her Tia Tam and we would often spend lunch hanging with her in her trailer.”

CS: Since we are Celeb Secrets, what is one secret about “Jane” or your experience that may surprise us fans?

MB: “Ava and I loved getting certain foods on set or traveling and they became our traditions. We would always look forward to getting a special coffee, decaf of course, that was called the shaken awakened or shaken oat from Starbucks. We also loved getting bagels! Ava and I also had a secret handshake.”
