George & Tammy star Jessica Chastain will be starring in a mini-series for Apple TV called The Savant. Chastain can currently be seen as Nora Helmer in A Doll’s House on Broadway.
The Savant will follow Chastain’s character known as the Savant as she invades hate organizations on the Internet to stop the most violent men in the country. The show will be led by House of Cards showrunner and producer Melissa James Gibson. Gibson most recently was an executive producer on Netflix’s Anatomy of a Scandal.
The Savant will be an eight-part mini-series for Apple with Chastain as its lead, while no other cast announcement has been made. Aside from her time playing as Tammy Wynette on George & Tammy, Chastain is also heavily known for her Academy Award-winning portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Chastain can also be seen in Zero Dark Thirty, Molly’s Game, and Interstellar, to name a few.
As for Apple TV, the streaming platform has produced many award-winning and beloved shows such as Ted Lasso, which is currently on its third season, Shrinking, which stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segal; and even streaming Selena Gomez’s documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.
All in all, this has the makings of a very successful series due to its leading lady on camera and behind the scenes.
