Lorde Announces “Solar Power” Album Coming This Summer

Could summer get any better?! Prepare your ears AND your playlists for all of the new music Lorde is delivering on her third studio album Solar Power, dropping on August 20.

In a surprise move, the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum artist dropped the title track on June 11. Since its release ten days ago, the song has been trending worldwide at #1 on social media, has gained 30 million streams in its first five days of being released, and was #1 on Spotify’s Global and US Song Debut

“Solar Power,” which was appropriately released during only solar eclipse of the year, came alongside the announcement of her highly-anticipated third studio album of the same name. This 12-track album co-produced with Jack Antonoff is a super summery album, being written for the sole purpose of celebrating the “flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all, come June,” the singer said in an email that she released to fans.

Of the album Lorde says in a statement, “The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”

Solar Power is a big deal for Lorde fans, as the New Zealand native has not an album out since Melodrama in 2017.

In addition to revealing the project’s release date, Lorde announced a world tour for 2022. The 40+ show tour, promoted by AEG Presents in the US and Canada, is her first North American tour since 2018 and kicks off in Nashville on April 3 at the Opry House before concluding at the Santa Barbara Bowl on May 7. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday, June 25, 2021, at 10 am local. Fans can sign up for Lorde’s email list for first access to presale tickets and for more info on tour dates HERE.
