Michael Strahan’s #GoodbyeGap Was the BIGGEST April Fool’s Prank of All Time (Watch)

Michael Strahan’s clever #GoodbyeGap prank had us convinced on April Fool’s Day.

On Wednesday (March 30), the Good Morning America host posted a video of what seemed like a real dental operation to his social media channels.

He chats with a real dental team composed of professionals from Smile Design Manhattan as the clip opens. Strahan explains he wants to keep the gap operation on the DL because he worries his friends and fans will simply try to convince him out of it.

“I gotta do what I wanna do for myself,” he explains in a genuine tone.

We are eventually introduced to Dr. Lee Gause, a leader in the field of dental cosmetics, who serves as Strahan’s dentist in the video. It all seems totally believable at first glance!

The fans were fooled too. Some encouraged the new transformation while others said they felt as though they were mourning a personal loss without any time to prepare.

On Thursday — only a few days since the launch of the clip — we were absolutely shocked to learn the truth: the entire operation never even happened! It was all staged as an April Fool’s joke! Strahan posted yet another attention-grabbing clip to his social channels, assuring us that his “gap is here to stay.”

But wait.. Strahan wasn’t the only one who got a kick out of this trick.

The team over at Smile Design Manhattan also went public about how exciting it was to play a joke on Strahan’s large fandom. In an Instagram post, the dental center revealed they were “Happy to be part of the best April Fool’s joke ever!”

Just a few hours ago, Smile Design Manhattan shared exclusive behind the scenes footage that shows us what really happened during Strahan’s fake operation.

The dental team even defends Strahan’s gap in their Instagram caption, saying “PS We love Michael’s gap!”

So now that we all know Strahan worked with real dental professionals to pull this April Fool’s trick, we are left wondering if it was a marketing effort for the clinic or nothing more than a silly joke to make fans laugh.

Were you fooled just like we were, or did you manage to see straight through Strahan’s creative ploy? Let us know your thoughts by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by tweeting us at @celebsecrets!
