RaeLynn Opens Up About Reflecting On Her Best Years with New Single “Funny Girl” (Exclusive)

RaeLynn is honoring all of the girls out there — just like herself — who have stayed true to themselves and never changed over the years with her latest country ballad “Funny Girl.”

Available now on all music streaming platforms, the multi-platinum singer’s latest soul-stirring anthem was written with Lauren Hungate and pays homage to the singer’s younger years and brims with a loving sense of self and authenticity. It also marks the turning of a new leaf in her career as a country music artist.

“I was thinking about my younger self, and about the life that me and my husband have built of getting to write country songs and travel the world, but also have a family and have a daughter and the personal side of things. I feel like I’ve succeeded really well.” the Baytown, Texas native spills to Celeb Secrets Country writer Brianna Vacca during CRS 2024 in an exclusive interview last month.

I wanted to tell her, ‘Hey, life ain’t mean, it’s just funny girl. Like, wait until you see the life that God has for you behind the curtain.’ That’s where the song took off and I wrote it with my girlfriend, and then I put it out on Instagram, just me playing it on a guitar, and it was quickly took off. It was like, ‘Alright, well this is the next song, you know?’ I’m really excited about it,” she continues.

The “God Made Girls” singer has come a long way from her days on NBC’s The Voice as a teenager. She’s released full-length projects BAYTOWN and WildHorse, and is gearing up for another full-length release later this year. If there’s one thing that she’s learned since the inauguration of her career, it’s confidence.

“I’m confident in who I am and I’m steady in that. I used to be a little insecure. We all have moments of that,” she shares. “I’ll never forget because I only wore dresses on the show, and then the first time I wore pants, everybody criticized me and I was like, ‘I can wear pants, you know?’ But now it’s crazy when people get upset about that. I’m older, I’m almost 30. My perspective of my career, my perspective of what truly matters is so different. I’m more civil now than when I was when I first started.”

Up next, RaeLynn is hitting the road with Kane Brown in support of his highly-anticipated tour, In The Air. The tour will travel through 29 cities, and Jon Pardi, Tyler Hubbard, Chris Young, Bailey Zimmerman, Cole Swindell, Parmalee and LOCASH are also joining as special guests.

“I’m so pumped. He called me last fall and was like, ‘Hey, just curious, would you wanna do some stadium shows with me?’ And I was like, ‘Uh, nah. I’m like, absolutely. Of course. I would love to,” the 29-year-old says of hitting the road with the “Bury My In Georgia” singer. “Kaitlyn is also one of my best friends, so we’re gonna have so much fun on the road.”
