The Baltimore Ravens have brought back an old friend, as the team has claimed veteran wideout Sammy Watkins after the Green Bay Packers cut Watkins on Monday (December 19).
Watkins spent last season with the Ravens and finished with 27 receptions for 394 yards and a touchdown.
The Ravens have been in dire need of a wideout as the team came into this season with arguably the worse receiving core in football and did nothing in the offseason to improve that group; with that said, adding Watkins does not solve everything but will at least improve that core for the time being.
Unfortunately for Baltimore, current number-one receiver Devin Duvernay suffered a foot injury during practice today, and it may sideline him for the remainder of the season as the Ravens have placed him on Injured Reserve.

As for Watkins, the 29-year-old wideout will be expected to produce heavily for a struggling Ravens offense as the team continues to find a way to make a significant push toward the AFC North division title as they trail the Bengals by half a game.
All in all, this signing should be beneficial for both sides. Still, it may not be as helpful as imagined due to teams now solely having to worry about Watkins and letting the other wideouts try to produce.
Watkins will most likely suit up for Baltimore on Saturday as the Ravens play host to the Falcons on Christmas Eve.
