Russell Wilson Trades the Field For the Kitchen with “Let Russ Cook” Apron to Fight Hunger

Wins aren’t the only things that Russell Wilson knows how to cook up.

The 32-year-old Seattle Seahawks quarterback actually enjoys being in the kitchen and this holiday season, he’s giving us a brand-new apron to add to our collection, plus a killer recipe for his favorite homemade mac and cheese.

Through Wilson and his wife Ciara‘s Why Not You Foundation, the power couple are launching an exclusive “Let Russ Cook” apron designed by local Seattle artist Enjoli Izidor, with all proceeds from the aprons benefitting the nonprofit’s commitment to United Way’s Ride United Last Mile delivery program expansion that provides food and resources through home deliveries to households impacted by the pandemic and unable to access their local food bank or grocery store.

“We have always felt that the holidays should be centered around giving back to the community. We are proud to be partnering with Betz Family Winery and Safeway to help United Way’s Ride United create a meaningful impact for those most in need this holiday season. Why Not You Foundation strives to create initiatives that align with our core pillars, and we really wanted to give this our personal touch for families to enjoy,” Russell and Ciara said in a statement.

You can watch Russell (sporting his “Let Russ Cook” apron) and his personal chef Andrea virtually cook his signature dish with Top Chef Kristen Kish in his Instagram post below.

The aprons will be sold alongside Betz Family Winery’s 2017 The Untold Story, a Washington Cabernet Blend, made from some of the most famous vineyards in Washington. Sales from both items will benefit the Ride United program to provide resources to food insecure families in Washington and beyond. In King County alone, the initiative has surpassed one million deliveries and currently services more than 2,000 households with hopes to expand to 1,000 more households by the end of 2020. The Let Russ Cook campaign will help fund these additional households, as well as expand the program nationwide.

The wine is now available for $35 and the apron for $15, with an additional $50 gift package option that includes both products. Let Russ Cook aprons can be purchased at all Safeway and Albertsons locations across Washington and The Untold Story wine can be purchased at select stores. Products also online at http://www.betzfamilywinery.com/LetRussCook.
