Top Dawg Entertainment is known for keeping fans on their toes by dropping surprise singles or blacking out a rostered artist’s social media accounts to prepare for a new release, but it’s been quite some time since the LA-based label has dropped anything new.
That is until now. TDE’s CEO Anthony Tiffith (Top Dawg himself) tweeted out a mysterious release date reveal with a promising caption.
“THE WAIT IS OVAH!!!! #TDE,” he shared along with a video of a loading screen that displayed a progress bar reaching the 99% mark before settling into a simple “5/7/21.”

TDE has an endless roster of artists that haven’t released music in a couple of years. Between Kendrick Lamar’s 2017 album release with DAMN., SZA‘s 2017 release with Ctrl, Isaiah Rashad’s 2016 album The Sun’s Tirade, Schoolboy Q‘s CrasH Talk release in 2019, and lots more, we’re left with more questions than answers.
Who has Top Dawg THIS excited that he made the announcement himself? What is the label planning? Is it an actual music release or something less climatic, like a new merchandise drop?
From the looks of it, we may have to glue ourselves onto TDE’s Twitter account to see if they’ll release any more information before the drop.
What do you think TDE is planning? Who do you hope will release some new music? Let us know by leaving a reaction below or send us a tweet @celebsecrets.
